NEW EXHIBITION: The Shadowland of Poetry
19th April 2026 at The Minories Colchester
An artist’s interpretations of Sylvia Plath and T.S. Elliot’s poems
Sylvia Plath was an American confessional poet, dealing with the lure of suicide even from an very early age, her poems are personal and revealing.
T.S Elliot a man recovering from exhaustion (neurasthenia), an unsuccessful marriage and in need of cathartic and therapeutic treatment for his mental condition writes, as he is recovering, his famous long poem, ‘The Waste Land’.
I find drawing and painting the images, inspired by their poetry to be extremely intriguing, it is an exploration of the poet’s imagination and through their words and mingled with my attempt to achieve the images that I see in my mind’s eye, they combine to make an unexpected world of dark surprises.

Lesley has exhibited at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank London and was also selected to take part in the East Anglian Artists group exhibition in Kettles Yard, Cambridge. She has also exhibited extensively throughout East Anglia as well as a number of Solo Exhibitions
